Spearfighting course HIKG 2017 original version

  • The weapon with the longest distance
  • The weapon with most kills on the line
  • The most important special weapon
  • Not a beginners weapon
  • Blind side - the position where the opponent(spearman) can't see the attacker
  • Suppressing fire(gaining the high ground) - Making more attacks than the opponent
  • Evasive combat- moving backwards while still being able to inflict heavy casualties on the opponents
  • The direct opponent - The fighter right in front of the attacker
  • Flank(ing) - move to a position where it's easier to hit the direct opponent

  • There are many different kinds of spears, all with different properties. Select actively, which one you will fight with.
    • Heavy
    • Fast
    • Wings
    • Long/short blade
  • People typically tries many different swords before selecting the one they want to fight with.
  • Select your spear type from the type of fighter you are.
  • You follow the flow of the fight. You don't think about what you do, you just do it.
  • It gives you speed, but also gives you tunnel vision
  • You can only do, what you have trained.
  • You have no battelplan, other than to win
  • You have a better overview of the battle
  • More options to choose from
    • Choosing the right tactics at the appropriate time
  • Constantly renewing the tactics, based on the development of the battle
  • Longer response time
  • What to gain
  • 7 boxes is easy to remember
  • They can be used at the same time, but needs to be trained separately
  • Position: Behind the line (1-1½ steps). Blindside.
  • Aim: Take out opponent spears
  • Execution: Standing in the safety of the opponent's range and when the opponent attacks, you counter his attack.
  • Advantage/Disadvantage : You are safe when your are not attacking, but your selection of targets is limited.
  • Position: In the line
  • Aim: Doing what spears does best, kill
  • Execution: Standard spear fighting
  • Advantage/Disadvantage: Lots of opponents to hit, but you are vulnerable to counterattacks and snipers
  • Position: In the line → Behind the line
  • Aim: Staying alive, but still keeping pressure on the opponens
  • Execution: Standing almost in line but only targeting the shields
  • Advantage/Disadvantage: You are safe when your are not attacking, but your selection of targets is limited
  • Position: Out of the line, and steps in to attack. Blindside. Flanking
  • Aim: Kill inattentive opponents
  • Execution: Are completely out of line, with full visibility. When seeing an inattentive opponent, or an opportunity to attack from the blind side, attacked there.
  • Advantage/Disadvantage: Can remove key personnel from the line. Requires overview. It takes time to move around the line. Less effective if opponents presses.

Offensive/Defensive

  • Position: In the Line
  • Aim: To put pressure on opponents, either by breaking pressure from the opponents or to put pressure on them when your line attacks.
  • Execution: The spear attacks in a wide range and hitting as many spots as possible(Suppressing fire). Not necessarily to kill, but to slow down the opponent or put maximum pressure on them
  • Advantage/Disadvantage: You can put enormous pressure on the opponent, but you become an easy target for Counterattacks or Sniper.
  • Position: In the line or even in front of it
  • Aim: Using Suppressing fire to get the opponent to be defensive and there by having the ability to control the fight.
  • Execution: Be aggressive and dominate the opponent, so they can not attack
  • Advantage/Disadvantage: If you are good, you have control and can singlehandedly put pressure on many opponents. But you are very exposed and is a prime target.
  • Position: Close to an other spear.
  • Aim: Through teamwork killing opponents
  • Execution: Working with direct opponent, either by opening the shielding or by luring the spear forward in the line. So that your teammate can make the kill.
  • Advantage/Disadvantage: You can hit opponents who are skilled defensive. Requires training in coordination and cooperation.
  • Choose a spear that fits your style
  • Know and use the different styles
  • Learn to alternate between Intuitive and Analytical fighting
  • The spear is a highly specialized weapons, and not a peasant weapon
